Listening Material

There’s not going to be a formal post this week because I am neck deep in studying for my PMP exam. I don’t recommend looking up what that is if you don’t already know - it is dead boring. And as we all know, the most boring things tend to be the most time consuming. My exam is this Friday though, so my schedule should clear up and I’ll be back to regular posts next week.

However! I did want to take a quick moment to shout out some of the other things I’ve recently been a part of. In the past few months I’ve been a guest on a couple podcasts - tackling topics of the very same nature I usually explore on my blog. So if you’re more of a podcast person than a blog person - check these out!

Semplicamente Parlando - Motivazione Un Miraggio (In)tangibile

This one is my friend Alex’s first podcast. He’s bilingual, hence the title is in Italian, but the episode I’m a guest for is all in English, I promise! This episode deals with motivation and what it means in real life. We talk about different definitions of motivation, how people rely on it, if it really makes a difference in life, or if success and productivity truly boil down to other factors in the end. Whiskey and Wisdom - Who’s paying for the date?

I was actually asked to be a guest on this one through my blog! It’s run by a couple of guys who love to discuss deeper topics, but the format puts a little twist on it. The ‘whiskey’ part of their podcast dictates a bit of drinking while a lighter topic is tackled, while the ‘wisdom’ part is where they discuss meatier subjects. In my episode we tackled dating and relationship norms for our more serious topic. We try to focus more on tangible norms like ‘who pays for the date?’ while keeping the influence of technology separate - however that is one of their other episodes so check this one out. Simply Conversing - Why, Love Why? & Do You Really Want it Enough or do you Just Enjoy Wanting?

My friend Alex never stops! This is his English language podcast and I’ve already done two types of episodes with him. The first is typical long form and we discuss what love means, how it manifests in romantic relationships and heavier topics like what it might mean to find love in old age, or how love affects going through betrayal. It’s a great episode and the one I’m most proud of. Listen here on anchor! Here on spotify! And here on apple podcasts!

The second episode is part of a little nugget series he’s been doing. These episodes tackle one question and are only ten minutes or less. In this nugget we tackle the conflict that arises when the act of wanting something is maybe more meaningful than going after the thing we want. This is a great intro to his podcast and he has tons more of these little ones if you’re not in the mood for long podcasts. Link here for anchor! Here for spotify! And here for apple podcasts!

And if you’re still interested in more thoughts on these topics, I have written pieces in the past that correspond with them - so check these out if you missed them the first time around:
